In celebration of World Turtle Day (May 23), FreakingNews organized a contest with the motto If Turtles Ruled. Digital artists were challenged to show how the world would be different if turtles were masters of the world and the arts. The contest drew forty entries, one of which was a Remastered Bouguereau. The image above, entitled Turtle Love, was created by rwpike, and was winner of the second prize.

Turtle Love is based on Bouguereau’s famous 1889 painting L’Amour et Psyche, enfants (Cupid and Psyche as Children). Below you can compare the original with the remastered version.
