One doesn’t have to be a mature and schooled artist to take Bouguereau into the 21st century. Case in point is 16-year old Jasper v/d Kerkhof from the Netherlands (TuxedoBird on DeviantArt) who created this pop-art style Remastered Bouguereau. In his own words:
School project: A mix between something before 1900 and after 1900. I chose to do Le Printemps (The Return of Spring) by William-Adolphe Bouguereau and mix it with the pop-art style of Roy Lichtenstein. I recreated Lichtenstein’s primary and (sometimes) secondary colors while keeping Bouguereau’s image as pure as it is.
With this latest contemporary version of a Bouguereau painting this online museum has acquired its 1,500th Remastered Bouguereau, proving without any doubt that the 19st century French master is by far the most inspiring artist for his 21st century followers!
