In May 2009, actress Penelope Cruz celebrated her 35th birthday. Cruz is the only Spanish female actress who received an Academy Award; she got it as Best Supporting Actress in “Vicky Cristina Barcelona”. To mark her birthday, FreakingNews invited digital artists to photoshop her any way they wish.

The Penelope Cruz contest drew 28 entries. The only Remastered Bouguereau was Cruz in the Villa by AZRainman. It was also the first-prize winner. His entry was based on Bouguereau’s 1871 work Jeune Italienne puisant de l’eau (Italian Girl Drawing Water). Below you can compare the original painting and the contemporary version.
