In December 2009 photoshop site Worth1000 organized their third Ren Party contest, challenging digital artists to take classical works of art, and help them get down in full-party regalia. The contest drew 16 entries, seven of which were Remastered Bouguereaus, proving again how popular the 19st century French master is among his 21st century followers. Better still: the contemporary versions of Bouguereau’s art took the top four places in the contest!
Winner was Bouguereau Happy Birthday by Brazilian artist Mandrak, shown above. He reworked Bouguereau’s L’admiration (Admiration, 1897). The second prize went to Turn the Music Up! by mateusarc. In this entry, Bouguereau’s Femme au Coquillage (Woman with Seashell, 1885) turns into a DJ. The bronze medal went to My piece of cake by aheadmon, who was inspired by Bouguereau’s Le Déjeuner du Matin (Breakfast, 1887). The three top-scorers are shown below.
