Nora Mojas, publishing as MarthaLights on DeviantArt, is a graphic designer in Zagreb, Croatia. Her father, theater director Davor Mojas, is currently involved with a play (written by local celebrities Ivo Vojnovic and his sister Gene Vojnovic) for the Lero student theatre in Dubrovnik ,Croatia.

It was obvious that Nora took it upon her to create the poster for the play. Since the name of the theater piece is Psyche Pelingrada (“Psyche of the Wormwood-town”), the subject for the poster was borrowed from Bouguereau’s 1892 painting of the mythological figure. In Nora’s own words:

“Bouguereau’s Psyche captures the poetic nature of Lero theatre and Mojas’ work, it correlates with their visual identity (which is based on antiques, preraphaelites and vintage imagery) and depicts the emotional and psychological aspect of the play.”

Below you can compare Bouguereau’s painting with the theater poster. Click the first to visit the gallery where you will find several more remastered versions of the original painting. Click the second to view Psyche Pelingrada on DeviantArt.
