Salvador Dali and William Bouguereau were contemporaries for just one year: Dali was born in 1904 and Bouguereau died in 1905. Otherwise, the two artists had nothing in common, except that they were skilled technicians, inspired by Renaissance masters.
If the two had ever been given the opportunity to work together, the above image might have been the fruit of their collaboration. It’s a surprising and creative mix of Dali’s 1937 surrealist work Sleep and Bouguereau’s 1886 painting La Soif (Thirst). The resulting combination is called Kiss Goodnight, and was photoshopped by Dutch digital artist CraftLord for a Re(n)union contest on Worth1000.
