In May 2010, photoshop site Worth1000 asked a simple question: If the Renaissance took place in more recent times, and the models were famous movie monsters/aliens, what would the artwork have looked like? The fifth edition of the Monster ModRen contest drew 24 entries, one of which was a Remastered Bouguereau. The image above, entitled The Remorse Of Alien, was created by digital artist steveRS, and fell just out of the top three, ending #4 in the contest.

The entry is a remastered version of Bouguereau’s 1862 work Les Remords d’Oreste (The Remorse Of Orestes, often also called Orestes Pursued by the Furies). Below you can compare the two versions. Click the first to visit the gallery where you will find several more remastered versions of Bouguereau’s original painting. Click the second to view The Remorse Of Alien on Worth1000. The third image shows one of the sources for the contest version. Click for more details.
